    Career Academic Program (CAP) 12:1:1 (Coser 201)

    Ages: 14-21
    Grade: 9-12
    Class Ratio: 12 Students : 1 Teacher : 1 Paraprofessional

    The CAP program is for students who take the New York State Alternate Assessment (NYSAA) and are expected to receive a Skills and Achievement Commencement Credential (SACC). Each student’s program is highly individualized based on IEP goals and objectives. Learning activities are designed to have practical applications rooted in life skills and are presented in the context of the student’s current and future learning environments. Components may include supported work placements, and occupational programs. When appropriate, students will participate in community-based activities. CAP programs have a transitional component for all students.
     
    Transition work-study coordination is available to assist with post-graduation plans and services. Staff liaisonship facilitates the initial application process, as well as OPWDD/Access VR case management, when applicable. 


    Program 8:1:1 (Coser 206)
    Ages: 5-21
    Grade: K-12
    Class Ratio: 8 Students : 1 Teacher : 1 Paraprofessional
    Sullivan BOCES offers several types of programming for students in need of an 8:1:1 classroom ratio. These programs provide academically rigorous individualized and small group instruction for students with learning, behavioral, social, and emotional needs. Curriculum and assessments are based on New York State Learning Standards. Case management is offered to students by special education teachers, social workers, counselors, and psychologists who assist with home/school communication. High school students may have a vocational component as a part of their graduation requirements. Transition plans include post-secondary schools or service trade employment.


    Intensive Therapeutic Academic Program (iTAP) (Coser 206.300)
    Ages: 6-21
    Grade: 1-12
    Class Ratio: 8 Students : 1 Teacher : 1 Paraprofessional 

    The Intensive Therapeutic Academic Program (iTAP) is an innovative program available for students whose emotional and behavioral disability interferes with their development and educational progress. A psychiatrist evaluates students in this setting and provides students with ongoing psychiatric consultation. Students in this setting are also provided with daily case management and counseling services from a school psychologist and social worker. Middle and high school students are provided 
    opportunities to work toward Regents diplomas.
     
     
    Program 8:1:3 (Coser 207)
    Ages: 5-15
    Grades: K-12
    Class Ratio: 8 Students : 1 Teacher : 3 Paraprofessionals
     
    The 8:1:3 program is for students who exhibit a communication need or have a diagnosis of autism. Students work throughout the day on a variety of activities framed by the New York State Learning Standards. BOCES staff is trained in instructional and behavioral strategies, which increase students’ ability to attend and participate in their instruction.  Students learn how to communicate to become a stronger learner academically, socially, and emotionally.
     

    Extended School Year (Coser 208)
    Ages: 5-21           Grade K-12      
    Class Ratio:  8:1:1, 8:1:3, 12:1:1 

    A 30-day summer program is available for school-aged students identified by district Committees on Special Education as requiring a 12-month program. Classroom programming and related services are provided based on the student’s IEP.
